What is Staying Well?
Both emotional and physical wellbeing stem from a range of activities and support ensuring that you stay well. Staying Well means engaging and having access to social activities and health and wellbeing services in the Community.
Most of what you can do to stay well and healthy has little to do with seeing your GP or local hospital, taking care of our mental and physical health can help to keep our bodies in the best shape they can be, this can involve areas such as dental health, making healthy lifestyle choices around alcohol, smoking or drug use, skin care and NHS Health Checks. Staying well can also relate to managing a pre-existing condition effectively, both by following the recommendations of your GP and/or consultant or actively monitoring your own condition with the use of one of our MySelfCare devices.
What is Staying Well Important?
Your health is your greatest wealth! There are a number of reasons why good health is important both physically and mentally. Leading a healthy lifestyle can help you live longer with lower chances of developing serious illness and disease as well as keeping you active and independent for longer. It is also important to remember that a healthy lifestyle should include happiness and fulfilment which can be gained from seeing friends and loved ones or trying something new.
Exercise has a range of benefits both physically and mentally, forcing you to either try something new, give you focus for the day or to help you relax and take a break from day to day life. The self-management of any existing condition not only is empowering it improves confidence and can lead to better mental health as well as a better understanding and knowledge of your condition and what works for your body and lifestyle.
